BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT PUBLIC HEARING CITY OF RAMSEY ANOKA COUNTY STATE OF MINNESOTA The Ramsey Board of Adjustment conducted a public hearing on Thursday, August 27,1987 at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. NW, Ramsey, Minnesota regarding A. J. Parent Company's request for a variance from Section 170.076.24 of the City Code regarding setback from the Rum River. Members Present: Mr. Gerald Zimmerman, Chairman Mr. Roy Shumway Mr. Jim Howell Mr. Terry Hendriksen Mr. Chuck LaDue Also Present: Anne Norris, Community Development Director Members Absent: Mr. Jim Holm CALL TO ORDER Chairman Zimmerman called the public hearing to order at 7:41 p.m. CITIZEN INPUT . Mr. Al Parent representing A. J. Parent Company was present. Ms. Norris noted that she had received a letter from Mr. John Stine of the DNR containing comments regarding A. J. Parent Company's request for a variance. The Board of Adjustment received the following comments from the DNR: 1) The proposed location of the structure could be adjusted toward the road to minimize the amount of variance required to the setback and ordinary high water level of the Rum River. 2) The house is designed to be a rear walk-out requiring grading and excavating. This excavation may require large areas of trees to be removed and/or significant land alterations to construct the walk-out. The DNR suggests that perhaps a different house and garage design would be more suitable to the topography of the lot. 3) The property is very steep along the river bank and the property owners should be made aware of permitting requirements for construction of stairways and landings to obtain access to the Rum River. 4) That if the variance is granted to the A.J.
