<br />. <br /> <br />BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT MEETING <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the City of Ramsey's Board of <br />Adjustment met on January 8, 1980, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, <br />15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota for the purpose of <br />considering a request of Midwestern Underground Construction, 14021 <br />Azurite Street N.W., for a variance to the City's Site Plan/Building <br />Design Plan Approval regulations. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Gamec Also Present: <br />Councilman Cox <br />Councilman Mickelson <br />Councilman Reimann <br />Councilman Sorteberg <br /> <br />City Adm. Schnelle <br />City Attorney Goodrich <br />City Engineer Raatikka <br /> <br />Chairman Mickelson called the meeting to order at 7:35 P.M. and led the <br />Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />'The review and recommendation of the Planning & Zoning Commission was <br />presented. The following comments were offered in regard to the request <br /> <br />for waiving the requirement for the exterinr appearance of the butld.:j..)1g., <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec feels' that one of the main purposes: of the s~te plan <br />ordinance i.s to start. getting the businesses' cleaned up and' improved <br />in appearance and to set cons'istent standards:- ;Eor a.ll existing <br />businesses' (which can be done with, the s'ite plan when they expand 0;1::' <br />alterl and on all new developments' that are propos-ed in either commercial <br />or industrial areas. <br /> <br />Councilman Mickelson stated that one of his: 1t'Iatn concerns is: that the <br />present company, Midwestern Underground, :MaY not always be occupy~ng <br />this building and it should be bui.lt SD that it would fit other industria.l <br />users who may purchase it in the future, He noted that this building is <br />proposed to be built on a separate parcel 0;1:: land and therefore, it could <br />be sold apart from the existing bus:ines'8'. <br /> <br />Councilman Cox indicated that he would like to s-ee SDme exterior i';mproyement <br />to the bu:Udtng and also to try and encourage the owners to upg;l::'ade the <br />appearance 0;E their existing building, iJ not now, tn the ;future. <br /> <br />Councilman Mickelson added that he feels' it the City ts going to have a <br />set of standards to operate with that it should be consistent and treat <br />everyone the same, further, a wOQd;Erame buildtng ts completely different <br />from the s:et of standards that were just s-et up to prohibit this type of <br />building .. . . <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Councilman Reimann expressed conce;rn that lIlaybe the City ts getting too <br />~estrictiye fOr ~ person such as thi~ that just wants to put up a build.:j..n9 <br />for cold storage us-es'.. <br /> <br />BOARD Of ,ADJl]STMENT!MIDWESTERNDNDERGROUND <br />January 8, 1980 Page 1 <br />
