Motion by Mayor Gamec, seconded by Councilman Sorteberg to grant a variance to Section 170. 014B of the City Code to Mr. Seelen to construct a 24' X 36' accessory building at his residence, 7224 l54th Lane N.W., and that he is to use only one common driveway; the design of the building is to be compatible with the exterior decor of the house; to be used only for storage and no commercial use. Discussion: Councilman Cox said the ordinance was established to have some type of criteria to go by to limit accessory buildings because it is inconsistent with the ordinance. He feels the granting of the construction of these buildings is pubting the City right back to where they began and it is the intent of adopting the ordinance to limit these buildings. Mayor Gamec stated that the way this building is placed it would not interfere with any future subdivision of the property and screening (trees) is already there and that Council does want to discourage the use of commercial activities in these buildings. Councilman Cox is concerned due to the reason for having the ordinance established was to avoid some of the administrative work involved in these requests. He feels the reason should be stated in the motion for granting the request because.it is inconsistent with the ordinance. Mayor Gamec continued the motion stating the reason is because Mr. Seelen has the proper screening, i~ is hidden from the street, the neighbors have signed in consent and placement of the building allows for future subdivision. . Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Mickelson, Reimann and Sorteberg. Voting no: Due to reasons indicated above. Motion by Councilman Mickelson, seconded by Councilman Reimann to adjourn. Motion carried. and Sorteberg. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmen Cox, Mickelson, Reimann Voting no: None.
