Council took no action regarding Ms. Lian' s property valuation. <br /> <br />Glen Austin - 14905 Wil1ernite - PIN i 21-32-25-34-0001 - - Stated that he <br />buil t his home and the assessed valuation is much higher than what it cost <br />him to build. Mr. Austin stated that he has approached the City and County <br />on this matter before and he is told that law sets assessing formulas. Mr . <br />Austin inquired hCM he can go about getting the law changed as all homes <br />are not built by union labor. Mr. Austin also noted that there is a huge <br />pond on his lot that killed 50 trees during last year's wet season; there <br />is no garage; and his assessed valuation is much higher than his neighbors. <br /> <br />Mr. Wirz - Stated that Mr. Austin's is a 28'x26' two-story and his <br />neighbors all have ramblers. <br /> <br />Mr. Austin - stated that in previous discussions with Mr. Wirz, he did get <br />his valuation lCMered from $89,000 to $84,700. Inquired if the landfill <br />contributes to Ramsey's tax base. <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann - Suggested that Mr. Austin encourage his local, county, <br />state and national representatives to keep government spending at a <br />minimmn. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Comcilrnernber Cox - Noted that 84% of Ramsey's revenue base is generated <br />fran residential property and the City is trying to improve that revenue <br />base by encouraging conunercial/industrial developnent. hly funds received <br />fram the landfill are set aside in a fund to take care of any contamination <br />problems that may arise until such time as other agencies accept their <br />responsibility. <br /> <br />Comcil took no action regarding Mr. Austin's property valuation. <br /> <br />Gary Stritesky - PIN i 11-32-25-33-0002 - - Stated that his property <br />valuation in 1986 was $117,200 and in 1987 it increased to $123,000.00. <br />If he hadn't filed green acres, his property taxes would have increased by <br />265%. <br /> <br />Mr. Wirz - Noted that last years property valuation was based on 75% <br />campleted construction. <br /> <br />Mr. Stritesky - stated that if his valuation and taxes increase next year <br />proportionate to past years, his taxes will be over $3000/year if he <br />doesn't green acre. <br /> <br />Mr. Wirz - Rep1 ied that next year's increases will depend on the market. <br /> <br />It appeared that Mr. Stritesky was misreading portions of his tax <br />statement; Mr. Starky clarified the information on the tax statement and <br />noted nobody knCMs hCM much property taxes will increase, or even that they <br />Board of Review/April 7, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 2 of 3 <br /> <br />. <br />
