<br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />CASE #4: <br /> <br />DISCUSSION REGARDING STAR CITY PROGRAM <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />As you know, Economic Development Commissioner Jack Ippel and I attended the <br />Star City training sessions last month. It appears that the EDC needs to <br />organize a Star City Committee (or assign an existing subcommittee) to be <br />responsible for completing the various Star City requirements. This committee <br />should be under the direction of the Economic Development Commission. The <br />committee should include representatives from the banking, real estate, local <br />business, development, civic organizations and residential communities and <br />should probably be no larger than 10 members. The committee could consist of <br />the entire Economic Development Commission or community representatives and <br />only those EDC members willing to work on the Star City Program. The committee <br />should have at least 3 subcommittees with each subcommittee assigned to <br />complete certain Star City tasks. <br /> <br />For your information, I have proposed the following subcommittees with their <br />assigned tasks: <br /> <br />1) Executive Subcommittee - <br /> <br />a) Oversee other subcommittees <br />b) Five year plan <br />c) One year work plan <br />d) Capital improvement plan <br /> <br />2) Publicity/Promotion Subcommittee - <br /> <br />a) Slide and video show <br />b) Community fact book <br />c) Community profile <br /> <br />3) Finances/Industrial Development Subcommittee <br /> <br />a) Labor survey <br />b) Business retention <br />c) Marketing presentation <br /> <br />For your information, listed below is the current status of each of the Star <br />City tasks that needs to be completed: <br /> <br />~ <br /> <br />Status <br /> <br />Annual Community Profile <br />Five Year Plan <br />One Yeark Work Plan <br />Slide Presentation <br />Labor Survey/Market Analysis <br />Capital Improvement Plan <br />Fact Booklet and Community Brochure <br />Business Retention <br />Presentation <br /> <br />Needs updating <br />Not started <br />Not started <br />In progress <br />Not started <br />Not started <br />Brochure complete <br />Not started <br />Not started <br />
