Many on tbe Planning and Zoning <br />Commission feel tbey are doing commercial developers a disfavor by not <br />requiring all standards to be complied witb rigbt from tbe beginning. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg stated tbat tbe Economic Development Commission is concerned <br />tbat tbe guidelines that are in place are not being enforced and are difficult <br />to enforce; there also needs to be a long range plan for developing the <br />industrial area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Deemer noted that P&Z just completed recodification and the next <br />task will be to review performance standards in the business/ industrial area. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson suggested that if Ramsey gets too restrictive. development <br />will not happen. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ippel replied that restricting certain kinds of development to <br />certain areas is not being too restrictive. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson brought up for discussion whether or not there is too much <br />industrial property in Ramsey and should a moratoriua be placed on rezoning <br />borderline residential property to industrial. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults stated that based on surveys. a very good rate of industrial <br />development would be 20 acres/year; on that basis. Ramsey has enough industrial <br />property to last 140 years. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ippel stated that he doesn't feel there is too much industrial <br />property in Ramsey. but there has to be a plan for developing it. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding businesses that have been priced out of other <br />communities obtaining conditional use permits and locating in Ramsey.
