<br />CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Ramsey <br />Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: Mayor Ryan Heineman <br />Councilmember Kirsten Buscher <br />Councilmember Michael Olson <br />Councilmember Eric Peters <br />Councilmember Chris Riley <br />Councilmember Dan Specht <br />Councilmember Shanna Stewart <br /> <br />Members Absent: None <br /> <br />Also Present: City Administrator Brian Hagen <br />Police Chief Brad Bluml <br /> Fire Chief Matt Kohner <br /> City Attorney Fritz Knaak <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Heineman called the regular meeting of the Ramsey City Council to order at 7:00 p.m., <br />followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mayor Heineman. <br /> <br />Mayor Heineman took a moment to recognize Mark and Melissa Hortman, who were killed in an <br />act of political violence, and John and Yvette Hoffman, who were both attacked on June 14. He <br />offered a moment of silence for the Hortmans. <br /> <br />Representative Harry Niska came forward and thanked the Council for their recognition of the <br />events on June 14. He called for peaceful political conflict and a stand against political violence. <br />He shared that he worked with Representative Hortman for three years, and he expressed his <br />deepest sympathies for their family. He thanked the Ramsey Police for their response to his home <br />that day to ensure that he and his family were safe after this event. <br /> <br />State Auditor Julie Blaha came forward and shared that she is heartbroken by the events of June <br />14. She expressed her gratitude for all law enforcement officers across the State who worked <br />tirelessly to apprehend this shooter. She shared that she received a knock at her door that morning <br />by Ramsey Police to inform her of the situation and ensure she was safe. She said Representative <br />Niska had asked law enforcement to check on her that morning and thanked him for doing so.
