<br />. <br /> <br />Chairman Greenberg noted that Mate Punch and Die needs to expand and ma~ be <br />interested in building a whole new structure and sU<Jgested that there nught <br />be a possibility of utilizing the existing bU11ding as a business <br />incubator. <l1airman Greenberg stated that he and staff will research the <br />issue further and report back at the next EDC meeting. <br /> <br />'!he Commission inquired as to the status of the Blue Max project. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris replied that she had received an application from Blue Max for <br />assistance from the Economic Developnent Company revolving loan fund. <br /> <br />CollUIlissioner Hardin noted that Marv Kytonen has gone out for bids for the <br />new structure. <br /> <br />Commissioner Fults asked for suggestions as to where a cold storage for a <br />plastics manufacturer could be located in Ramsey. <br /> <br />The Commission suggested a new structure in the industrial park or the <br />former Pavemasters building. <br /> <br />CollUIlissioner Wagner inquired as to the status of the Barton-Aschman study <br />of lMy. 110 and allocation of 1987 CDBG funds. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris replied that she and the City Engineer had met with <br />representatives of Barton-Aschman to define the final scope of the project <br />and a contract. Ms. Norris stated that City Council has allocated CDBG <br />funds for economic developnent activities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ippel inquired if EDC should camnent on Barton's request for <br />a conditional use permit to excavate and create a bituminous plant. <br /> <br /><l1airman Greenberg suggested that Barton Sand and Gravel's request for a <br />conditional use permit be placed on the next EDC meeting agenda. <br /> <br />Case #2: Discussion Regardinq Fundc:; For Economic Developnent <br />Activities: <br /> <br /><l1airman Greenberg stated that a major portion of the funds available would <br />be used for the Hwy. #10 Corridor Study. <br /> <br />Ms. Norris noted that CDBG funds would be used for the Hwy. #10 study and <br />the $50,000 alocated ~ City Council for economic development activities <br />are still in tact. <br /> <br />Commissioner Wagner suggested that funds be used to hire assistance in <br />economic developnent areas or to free up Ms. Norris time in order that she <br />can focus on economic developnent activities. <br /> <br />Commissioner Ippel suggested that the money be used to complete star city <br />requirements and establishing a business retention program would be high <br />priority and should be accanplished in conjunction with the Hwy. #10 study. <br /> <br />The Oammission directed that Ms. Norris compile a list of those star city <br />EOC/April 8, 1987 <br /> <br />Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br />. <br />
