The sprinl(ling ban will be in effect from Me-
morial day until after Labor Day.
Residents may water on odd numbered days if their address ends in an odd
number, and on even numbered days if their address ends in an even number.
The sprinl(ling restriction includes no waterin~ between 10:00 a.m. and
8:00 p.m. since a significant amount of water is lost due to evaporation during
the hot portions of the day. Homeowners with automated systems are strongly
encouraged to program them to operate after 10:00 p.m. This minimizes evapo-
ration and lessens peak demand on the system.
In addition to the residential sprinkling ban, the city is in the process
of implementing an irrigation policy that is specific to townhouse, multifam-
ily residential and commercial connections to the municipal water supply that
requires that:
· All irrigation systems must install an approved backftow device.
· All irrigation systems must include a Rain Sensor device to prevent irriga-
tion systems from operating during rain events.

Slowing the Flow
of Junk Mail

Are you getting inundated with
junk mail? If so, here are two simple
steps you can tal(e to reduce the
amount of junk mail you receive: (1)
Register with the Direct Marketing
Association's free Mail Preference
Service by sending a postcard with
your name and address to Mail Pref-
erence Service, PO Box 643, Carmel,
NY, 10512-0643, requesting that
your name be placed in the "delete
file" and (2) Call1-888-5-0PTOUT
(1-888-567-8688), to have your name
deleted from the lists for pre-ap-
proved credit card solicitations.
F or more information on how
you can reduce waste, check out the
website at www.reduce.org. Also,
keep in mind that junl( mail can be
included with your curbside recycla-
bles. For additional recycling infor-
mation or questions, please contact
Chris Anderson at 763-433-9905 or
visit the website at www.ci.ramsey.
mn.us.

www.ci.ramsey.mn.us

5
