LIONS SPREAD CHRISTMAS
CHEER AROUND RAMSEY!

The Ramsey Lions knew they had a big project
ahead of them after discussing the past Christmas
Basket giveaway of 1987. Most of the Lions expected
to exceed the number of food baskets, toys and
Christmas wishes that were given to Ramsey
families who were experiencing difficult times in
1987. This year the Ramsey Lions went into
assembly line formation and high gear at
LeTournE;lau's Super Value to create food baskets
of hams, dairy products, canned veggies, pies,
cookies and candy. During that week, Lion Jack was
negotiating with wholesale toy distributors for toys
for the over 280 children also on the other side of
the family basket project. After looking at some of
the well picked toys, I knew that even Lion Jack must
of felt a little like 01' Mr. Santa himself!
Here's the totals:
49 food baskets were distributed
283 childrens toys were distributed
$4,243.00 was the amount donated by the Ramsey
Lions gambling fund. Many thanks to Lion Leo and
his store staff, Lion Jack and his organizers, and to
all the Lions who provided their time and vehicles
to distribute and spread this wonderful Christmas
cheer around Ramsey!

DONATIONS! DONATIONS! DONATIONS!
December was a month of donations:
· 80 coloring books were donated to the toys for tots
campaign
· $232.78 was provided to take area seniors on a
bus tour of the cities Christmas lights and a dinner
at Old Country Buffet
· $200.00 was donated to a local teen in her com-
petition for Miss Teen-Minnesota
· $10,000.00 total was donated to the Lions L.C.I.F.
Organization for each of our current members who
have held the past position of club president
· $275.00 was donated to Wright County In-
termediate School to provide computer software to
help children that have hearing problems to better
communicate with others.

RAMSEY SENIOR CITIZENS

The Ramsey Senior Citizens started out the new
year with 34 members and friends present at the
January, 1989 meeting. The club would like to take
this opportunity to welcome new members, Earl and
Luella Hadley. Lucille and John Patchen also stop-
ped by for a visit.
Thanks to Carol Berge for her reading; the selec-
tion was very humorous and very much enjoyed.
Next month, the club is planning to play penny
bingo; so don't forget your PENNIES! Those not
wishing to participate in the bingo games can visit
or play cards.
The next meeting of the Ramsey Seniors will be
Wednesday, February 1, 1989 at 12:00 noon in the
lower level meeting room at Ramsey City Hall.
Please come and join us for a few hours of fun,
fellowship, fun and food.
If you are interested in joining the Ramsey Seniors
or would like more information, please call Zola
