S <br />ENVIRONMENTAL <br />EXPO <br /> <br />SPONSORED BY KEEP RAMSEY CLEAN COMMlnEE <br />A KEEP AMERICA BEAUTIFUL PROGRAM <br />SATURDAY APRIL 27, 10 AM-2 PM <br />RAMSEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL <br />ADMISSION FREE <br /> <br />The Purpose of the EXPO is to offer to Ramsey Community members <br />and businesses an opportunity to get information about a variety of <br />environmental issues. There will be four round table discussions open <br />to the public at no charge. <br /> <br />10:30 am <br /> <br />Recycling Do's and Don'ts <br />Jim Gromberg - City of Ramsey <br />Dean Warden - Ace Solid Waste Management <br /> <br />10:30 am <br /> <br />Wood/Prairie Ecology <br />Bruce Bacon - City of Ramsey <br />Paul Jackson - Prairie Restoration <br /> <br />12:30 pm <br /> <br />Wells and Septic Systems <br />Glen Huff - City of Ramsey <br />Kevin Hoppe - Renner Well Company <br /> <br />12:30 pm <br /> <br />Composting and Gardening <br />Georgia Reay - Anoka County Extension Service <br />Louis Peterson - Anoka Garden Club <br /> <br />Trees will be given away to residents. Additional potted plants, bedding plants, shrubs, <br />bushes, shade, fruit and ornamental trees will be available at the Local Green Business <br />and Environmental Expo at Ramsey Elementary School. <br /> <br />Recycled ~ems to purchase <br /> <br />Limited number of commemorative t-shirts will be available for purchase <br /> <br />"Spider" John Koerner will provide entertainment <br /> <br />CHILDREN'S EVENTS <br /> <br />So parents can have a chance to browse <br />around and/or attend the workshops <br />Community Education is providing children's <br />events for ages 4-12. There will be games, <br />crafts, stories and a Mr. Roger's <br />Neighborhood video tape for the younger <br />children. The Artists Del Norte are providing <br />Junk Sculpturing. Steve Kimmel will provide <br />an introduction to music with selected <br />instruments for hands-on experience. There <br />is no charge for any of the children's events. <br /> <br />DUMPING PERMITS <br />AVAILABLE AT EXPO <br /> <br />Get your FREE dumping permits at the <br />expo Saturday, April 27. The permit allows <br />Ramsey Residents to haul one load of <br />garbage to the landfill Saturday May 4 from <br />7 a.m. to 1 p.m.. The only other time free <br />permits will be issued will be Friday April 26 <br />from 8 am to 7 pm. Bring your driver's <br />license to prove residency. One permit per <br />household. <br /> <br />PERMITS WILL COST $5.00 ON CLEAN. <br />UP DAY <br /> <br />The EXPO is your <br />opportunity to: <br /> <br />· Recycle your aluminum cans (the <br />Elementary school uses the profits <br />to buy software for the students) A <br />dumpster will be available. <br />· Bring your household batteries for <br />the battery recovery program. They <br />will be shipped to a hazardous <br />waste landfill. Button Batteries <br />(used in cameras) ARE recyclable <br />- many stores offer this service. <br /> <br />r- <br />
