It is the
second year Ramsey has received this national recognition.
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the National Arbor Day Foundation in
cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters.
To become a Tree City USA, a community must meet four standards: a tree board or
department, a city tree ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor
Day observance.
Trees have long been recognized for the beauty and value they lend to our homes,
neighborhoods, parks and business areas. At the same time, those trees help clean the air and
keep the atmosphere in balance," John Rosenow, the National Arbor Day Foundation's executive
director, said.
"An effective community forestry program is an ongoing process of renewal and improvement
- a program of tree planting and care that continues through the years,"Rosenow said. "The Tree
City USA award is an excellent indication that there is a solid foundation for that process of
improvement."

PARENTS, EDUCATORS, AND OTHER
INTERESTED PARTIES:
The North Suburban Chapter of Learning Disabilities
of MN (LDM) is sponsoring the following free
seminars:

APRIL 22, 1991

A special program on Attention Deficit Disorder and Treatment will be
presented by Betty Mesley, a Park Nicollet Medical Center specialist in
learning and emotional disabilities, who is a parent of children with
Attention Deficit Disorder.

]

MAY 6,1991

Stephanie Corby will discuss Transitions.
