But this time I will give
you a break-I wrote it as a normal letter and I'm sure you'll
all agree it turned out a whole lot better.
First of all I would like to inform you that as of the 1 st
of September, the 18% of Ramsey that had been covered
by the Elk River Fire Department is now the resposibility of
the Ramsey Fire Department. On Tuesday, September 4th
there was a home at 9015 176th Ave, that was destroyed
by a fire that had started in the basement. For the record:
The fire call was dispatched at 10:23 am; Steve Morrison
(Asst. Fire Chief) arrived on the scene at 10:27 am; the
Ramsey Fire Department (RFD) pumper left the station at
10:33 am; and arrived on the scene at 10:42 am. Flames
had already worked their way through the roof when Steve
Morrison arrived on the scene.
Starting January 1, 1991 the Ramsey Fire Department will
be resposible for all fires within the city limits. Until then,
structure fires remain the resposiblitiy of the Anoka/Champlin
Fire Department with whom we have a contract that
expires12/13/90. All grass fires within the city limits are cur-
rently the resposibility of the RFD. The RFD is currently equip-
ped with one 1,000 gallon pumper (4181), one 1,800 gallon
tanker (4185), one baCk-Up 2,300 gallon tanker (4186), and
a grass rig (4191). The 41xx numbers are the call numbers
that are used for communication with the Anoka County
Dispatcher, Police, other emergency vehicles and for com-
munication between vehicles.
The RFD is hoping to have an open house in the near future
so that all of those interested can stop in and find out more
about the Ramsey Fire Department. I would also like to add
that if anyone has questions or concerns regarding the Fire
Department they may contact either myself at 753-3360 or
Dave Griffin at 427-6222.

I
I
cr

SCHEDULE OF OCTOBER MEETINGS
AND OFFICE CLOSURES

7:00 p.m.

Monday, October1, 1990

7:30 p.m.

Tuesday, October 2, 1990
Monday, October 8, 1990
Tuesday, October 9, 1990
Wednesday, October 10, 1990
Wednesday, October 10, 1990
Wednesday, October 10, 1990
Tuesday, October 23, 1990
Thursday, October 25, 1990

7:00 p.m.
7:30 a.m.
7:00 p.m.
7:00 p.m.
7:30 p.m.
7:30 p.m.

Regular Make the Scene, Keep Ramsey Clean Committee
Meeting
Regular Planning and Zoning Commission Meeting
OFFICE CLOSED IN OBSERVANCE OF COLUMBUS DAY
Regular City Council Meeting
Regular Economic Development Commission Meeting
Regular Park and Recreation Commission Meeting
Regular Fire Department Meeting
Regular City Council Meeting
Regular Board of Adjustment Meeting

All meetings are held at the Ramsey Municipal Center unless indicated otherwise.

GOT SOMETHING TO SAY?

Remember Citizen Input. There are several chimney sweeps in
the area who will clean your chimney for a fee, or you can
call a rental business and obtain cleaning equipment.

There are chimney fire extinguishers for sale at most hard-
ware and lumber stores. These are designed for home
owners to put in the stove when they experience a chimney
fire.

To make sure a chimney fire doesn't take you by surprise,
check smoke detectors to make sure they are working pro-
perly. The life they save may be yours.

Finally, make sure flammable liquids are removed from the
home.

These hints can help keep your fireplace the cozy addition
to your home it was intended to be.
