Since 1984, the City has extended sanitary sewer and municipal water to serve commercial and industrial property in the southeast corner of the
City. A 500,000 gallon water tower will be constructed this summer at State Highway #47 and County Road #5 to serve those areas with municipal water.
HIGHWAY #10
STUDY COMPLETE

In response to concerns regarding the quality of
existing and future development along Highway #10,
the Ramsey City Council authorized the completion
of a study of the Highway 10 corridor. In April 1987,
Barton-Aschman Associates began a study of the
Highway 10 corridor from the Ramsey-Anoka boun-
dary west to Armstrong Blvd. The study addresses
economic development potential, land use and
physical characteristics, transportation and com-
munity image and identity issues within the study
area.
The study shows Ramsey has a consolidated land
resource (1200 acres zoned Industrial) with utilities
available, historically competitive land cost,
reasonably high accessibility, highway-rail-airport
site transportation services, good soil, level industrial
sites, modest taxes, and solid residential
neighborhoods.
The most significant factor is the contiguous
nature of an extensive land reservoir which can be
planned or developed as a neighborhood. That abili-
ty to put together a planned industrial neighborhood
provides an opportunity to specially position the in-
dustrial land as an industrial or business village.
The results of this study are intended to be used
by the City as planning and development guides for
the study area. A copy of the report is available at
City Hall.
1988 "DISCOVER RAMSEY"
BUSINESS EXPO

Based on the success of the 1987 Business Ex-
po, the Ramsey Economic Development Company
is planning another event for the fall of 1988. The
business expo is designed to bring Ramsey
residents and businesses together to let residents
in our area know what businesses we have in
Ramsey, what they sell, what employment oppor-
tunities there are and just how viable the business
community is in Ramsey.
For a great day of fun, food and prizes, plan to
attend the 2nd annual Discover Ramsey Business
Expo this fall. Watch the Ramsey Resident Newslet-
ter for further details.
of Ramsey. This can be used to represent and
market the City and includes information on the com-
munity such as civic organizations, parks and recrea-
tion, employment, education, health care, transpor-
tation, etc. The tape is available for use by realtors,
schools, civic organizations, etc.
Copies of the tape are available at Ramsey City
Hall and the Rum River Library Branch in Rum River
Plaza.
RAMSEY ECONOMIC

DEVELOPMENT COMPANY

SELLING STOCK IN

RAMSEY'S FUTURE

The Ramsey Economic Development Company is
a non-profit company whose primary purpose is to
promote the development and expansion of new and
existing businesses in Ramsey. The REDC works as
a liaison between the city and the private sector as
a source of information and assistance in meeting
the development needs of businesses considering
expanding or locating in Ramsey.
The REDC has already been involved in a number
of issues surrounding the promotion of economic
development in the City of Ramsey. Some of these
include a brochure on the City of Ramsey, the
establishment of a business liaison task force
designed to meet with prospective businesses who
have expressed an interest in expanding or locating
their business in Ramsey.
Stock in the company is currently being sold for
$25.00 per share. Proceeds from the sale of stock
will be used as an operating fund by the company,
in it's efforts to promote the growth, expansion, and
development of new and existing businesses in
Ramsey. The REDC is currently offering stock to any
business or private citizen who is interested in the
future of the city and in promoting economic develop-
ment in Ramsey.
Anyone interested in obtaining more information
about the Ramsey Economic Development Com-
pany or in purchasing stock in the company can con-
tact Anne Norris at 427-1410.
RESIDENTIAL BUILDING PERMITS ISSUED

Residential growth is a sign of a city's vitality and
in Ramsey that growth in 1987 was nearly 4 times
what it was in 1980.
The City issued 50 residential building permits in
1980; 145 in 1986; and 194 in 1987.
People are drawn to Ramsey by the choice and
availability of wooded and/or lake and river front lots
as well as 2.5 acre and larger parcels. the real plus
is that these lots are lower in price compared to land
in other suburban areas which offers the home buyer
the opportunity to place more investment in the
home than in the land.
