RAMSEY LIONS

The Lions' big story this month is the Ramsey
Community Picnic scheduled for June 14. We hope
that all Ramsey residents can find the time to stop
out at Central Park and participate in the festivities.
The Lions, along with the RY AA, Boy Scouts and
Ramsey Community Education Department have put
a lot of time and effort into this project, so let's get
together and make it a huge success!!
At a recent meeting, the Lions held election of of-
ficers for 1987-88. The following are the Lions that
will take office effective July 1:
President - Jerry Hamlet
First Vice President - Gary Suchy
Second Vice President - Leigh Lundberg
Third Vic President - Olaf Olson
One Year Director - Merle Mevissen,
Pat Doroff
Two Year Director - Roger Austin, Paul Swen-
son, Dick Mevissen
A few people have asked about the use of the
building at Central Park. This building was erected
for use by residents of the City of Ramsey. The sign
on the building was put there to indicate that the
building was donated by the Ramsey Lions.
Keep America Beautiful Ramsey Clean-Up Day
was a great success! Mayor Gary Reimann, several
Councilmen, Ramsey Jaycees, Waste Management
officials and employees were on hand to start the
day off. Over 400 residents took advantage of the
free dumping privileges offered by Waste Manage-
ment of Minnesota, Inc. at the Anoka Regional
Sanitary Landfill. Members of the Cheerful Chuggers
4-H Club and Boy Scout Troop 362 and Cub Scout
Pack 362 spent several hours picking litter and
debris from several roads within the City of Ramsey.
Jaycees manned the Recycling Center on that day
providing information to residents as to facilities
available for recycling.
Additional Keep America Beautiful Week Activities
included the Ramsey Jaycees repainting the City of
Ramsey signs located at entrance points to the Ci-
ty. Over 14,000 litter bags were distributed to 56
Jaycees Chapters throughout the State of Min-
nesota. In addition, litter bags and coloring books
promoting the Keep America Beautiful idea were
distributed to students at Franklin and Ramsey
Elementary Schools. Bill Kirchner, a Waste Manage-
ment employee, constructed and installed bluebird
houses along the perimeter fences at the Anoka
Regional Sanitary Landfill.
Thanks to all who participated! Let's make Keep
America Beautiful an on-going activity throughout
the year.
RAMSEY JAYCEES NEWS

The Ramsey Jaycees would like to take this op-
portunity to thank all the residents of Ramsey for the
great response to the call for recyclable materials
during the May 2nd Ramsey Clean-up Day. The
Jaycees, in cooperation with Waste Management of
Minnesota, Inc. and the City of Ramsey, volunteered
that day to help make the operation a smooth runn-
ing one. The clean-up day event began with Terry
Miller of Waste Management recognizing Ramsey's
efforts to maintain a beautiful community. Thanks
again to all the Ramsey residents who helped make
the community of Ramsey more beautiful by
donating their recyclable steel, aluminum and
papers to a worthwhile cause.
Saturday, April 25th, the Ramsey Jaycees spent
the day scraping and painting the "City of Ramsey"
signs marking the city limits. The Jaycees hope this
small undertaking will help add to the beauty of the
City of RAMSEY.
