Two services
have been added:
1) QVC - channel 19 - The Quality, Value, Conve-
nience Network offers you the opportunity to pur-
chase merchandise without leaving your home.
2) SIN - channel 47 - The Spanish International
Network.
This channel re-alignment is now standard in all
of the northern suburbs from Anoka to Maplewood
and in the cities of BlIrnsville and Egan.
Live coverage of the U.S. House of Represen-
tatives in now on C-Span, channel 24.
Live coverage of the U.S. Senate is now on C-
Span II, channel 25.
Excellent children's programming is found on
Nickelodeon (channel 32) and the Discovery Chan-
nel (channel 28).
College basketball and NHL Hockey can be found
on ESPN (channel 6) and USA Network (channel 13).
Music videos can be found on Video Hits-1 (chan-
nel 26), MTV (channel 7), the Nashville Network
(channel 20), and Country Music TV (channel 27).
Twenty-four hour weather is broadcast on chan-
nels 15 and 16.
Twenty-four hour news is available on Cable Net-
work News (channel 1 0), CNN Headline News (chan-
nel 14), and the Financial News Network (channel
22).
Additional cable services include Pay Per View
shows of major sporting events and the premium
movie channels available at an additional cost.
Cable Commission meetings are open to the
public and are held on the third Thursday of the
month, 5 P.M., at the Anoka City Hall.
The phone number for Cable TV customer service
is 483-9999.

OFFICER BOB KUHN

titude she puts forth in her employment with
Ramsey. Officer Kuhn received recognition for the
extra time and effort he has expended to initiate and
carry out officer training programs within Ramsey's

A WORD FROM YOUR
TREE INSPECTOR

Do you love trees? Do you value plants? Have you
thought of a tree as a family member? Trees grow
as slowly or more slowly than humans. A large tree
in a city means that people have lived their lives
around it. A local White Oak commonly may span
10 human generations, making it a great, great,
great... tree.
Trees and plants can be indicators of environmen-
tal health. At your home you can see the variations
in tree and plant growth that results from soil fertili-
ty, seasonal water changes, buried septic systems,
road salt runoff, etc. However, the effects of acid rain
on tree and plant life are more subtle. The remedy
may be costly, but maybe not when you take into
consideration the hidden environmental and social
costs that would be passed along to the children we
love without a healthy environment.
Two years ago in April, a Ramsey roadside
firewood pile survey tallied an estimated 1000 cords
of firewood -- remember, this survey was taken at
the end of the peak woodburning season. This BTU
energy end use is an indication that trees have a
money value as well as an aesthetic value.
As you muse on nature, give some thought to what
it is and where it goes. I invite you to consider a tree
as a form of long-range planning as well as a trust
for the future; something to replace and enhance as
well as to use.
Thank-you for your cooperation with the Tree In-
spector/Fire Warden in 1986. There was a great
response to the fund raiser and the City of Ramsey
allowed use of their City garage area as a wreath
and poinsettia pick-up location which resulted in a
very orderly operation.
The Hockey Association is planned to hold it's An-
nual Meeting this year at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd
at the St. Stephen's School gymnasium. The Annual
Meeting is an opportunity for all members of both
the Hockey Association and the Arena Association
to voice their opinions on matters that are affecting
the operation of the associations. There are open-
ings on both the Hockey Association Board and the
Arena Association Board for new directors. If you are
interested, contact Dennis Sauer, President of MHA
or Jon Kjelstad of MIA. We hope all members of
the community who have an interest in these pro-
grams will attend this very special meeting.
The Hockey Association held it's annual pizza sale
from January 9th to the 21 st. Top selling individuals
were awarded gift certificates.
The Minneapolis Star and Tribune published an
article on the wildlife prints available through the
Anoka Hockey Association. You may purchase a
limited edition numbered print through any associa-
tion member or by contacting Robin Carroll at
421-1047. There will be a different print each year
for 5 years. The artist is Jim Meager and the prints
will also be signed by Herb Brooks.
The Association would also like to take this oppor-
tunity to thank all of those who made donations to
help our Maroon PeeWees and Maroon Bantams at-
tend the International Silverstick Tournament in Port
Huron, Michigan. Although the cost of such a trip
is great, the recognition and experience these
players received will last a lifetime!!!

TIRED OF ALCOHOL
AFFECTING YOUR LIFE?
JOIN US.

RAMSEY A.A.

8:00 p.m.
7:30 p.m.
8:00 p.m.

Thursdays
Sundays
RAMSEY AL-ANON Thursdays
RAMSEY CITY HALL
LOWER LEVEL- REAR ENTRANCE
