Club meetings <br />are held in the Anoka City Hall, <br />2015 First Avenue, in the lower <br />level Community Room. Meet- <br />ings are held on the first and <br />third Tuesday of each month. <br />Each meeting starts with a <br />sing-a-long at 1:15 p.m. with a <br />business meeting (on the first <br />Tuesday) or social meeting (on <br />the third Tuesday) following at <br />1 :30 p.m. Meetings are capped <br />off by refreshments and con- <br />versation and are usually over <br />by 4 p.m. We always have a <br />good time, so please join us! <br /> <br />The renovation of Lincoln Elementary School playgrounds <br />continues on schedule. The'project is a combined effort of <br />the Lincoln School parents and teachers, Anoka-Hennepin <br />School District and the City of Anoka. <br /> <br />The Anoka Senior Center <br />located at Sixth and Washing- <br />ton (George Bean Park) ex- <br />tends an invitation to all <br />seniors to join us at the center <br />(60 years of age for dining, 55 <br />years of age for activities). <br />We have dining five days a <br />week at 12 noon. The <br />brunch is open to the public, <br />so for more information, call <br />Dorothy Jorgenson at the' <br />Anoka Senior Center at 421- <br />8090. <br />Exercise classes are held on <br />each Thursday morning at <br />10:45 a.m. Mary Marsh is the <br /> <br />instructor. <br />A Senior Citizens Van Task <br />Force has begun meeting to <br />determine if there isa need to <br />provide transportation servic- <br />es to Anoka area senior citi- <br />zens. If the task force deter- <br />mines that there is a need, a <br />van may be purchased through <br />donations that would be used <br />for driving senior citizens to <br />congregate dining, shopping <br />and other activities. A survey <br />is being prepared by the task <br />force to find out if there is any <br />interest among seniors for this <br />service. T~e survey will be dis- <br />tributed to area senior citi- <br />zens, so won't you please fill it <br />out and return it when you <br />receive the survey? <br /> <br />First Place Mayors Award Trophy was won at Waite Park <br />Spass.Tag Festival on Sunday, June 9. It was the first of <br />seven 1985 awards won by the Anoka float and royalty as of <br />August 10. Other awards are from Brooklyn Park Tater Days, <br />Blaine's Blazin' 4th, South St. Paul Kaposia Days, Robbins- <br />dale Whiz Bang Days, Glenwood Waterama, North Hudson <br />Pepper Festival. Our float and royalty along with four <br />chaperones will be attending 30 parades between May and <br />the end of September.
