The
,newsletter will be self-
supporting by the sale of
'advertising space which will
generate revenue to cover the
costs of- production and
distribution.
The purpose of this
newsletter will be to provide
concise, timely, accurate, and
factual info'rmation from and
about the activities of the Ci-
ty, Anoka-Hennepin School
District No. 11, Elk River In-
dependent School District
No. 728, Anoka Ramsey Com-

munity College, Anoka Area
Chamber of Commerce, Mer-
cy Medical Center and pther
non-profit organizations
within the city.
Itis not the purpose of this
newsletter to provide com-
mentary on the day-to-day
business of the CitY or the
other participating agencies,
but rather to reach individuals
of the City with information
on activities and upcoming
events. It is the role of the
regular news media to provide
informaiion regarding daily

Publication Date

November 22, 1984
January 17, 1985
March 21,1985
May 24, 1985
July 19, 1985

Rights of way

Again this winter, as in
most, we will experience the
problem of our snow plows
running into things in the
Right of Way that don't
belong there. These consist
of fences, railroad ties, rocks
and numerous other items
many of you place on property
that really belongs to the
public as a part of the street.
For those of you who don't
know, the public Right of Way
does not stop at the edge of
the roadway but is, in most in-
stances, 33 feet from the
center of the street. What this
then means is the first twenty
(20) feet or so from the edge

of the road does not in fact
belong to the homeowner,
even though it is yours to
maintain. Further, the place:
ment of any obstructions in
this area, whether it be fences
or whatever, is not only in
violation of City policy but
cOuld su bject you as the
homeowner to a personal
liabili.ty. .
In view of all this we would
ask that you refrain from plac-
ing obstructions in the Right
of Way and further ask that
those of you that have items
in the Right of Way, please
have them removed.

City of Ramsey
snowplowing procedure

It is the policy of the City of
Ramsey to plow all City
streets when the snow depth
is two inches or more. Normal
starting time is,2:00 a.m. or
sooner'if weather permits. It
takes from six to ten hours to
open all streets depending
upon the, snowfall amount,
wind conditions and ob-
stacles in the way such 'as
cars and garbage cans.
The City is divided into five
routes. Each route is assign-

ed at least. one major tho-
roughfare which is opened
almost immediately.
The snowplow crew con-
sists of four full-time
employees and six part-time
employees with seven pieces
of equipment. These consist
of three large trucks with
plow, wing and sander, two
graders with wings, one
loader and one small four-
wheel drive truck with plow
for plowing intersections and
cul-de-sacs.

business activities of the
various agencies. However, shotguns
with no larger than size 4 shot
are the' only type of firearm
permitted to be discharged in
certai n areas of the City.
You must not be within
1500 feet of any residence or
structure. The City is increas-
ing in population every year
and open space is getting in-
creasingly harder to find.
You must also have written
permission from the owner of
the land on which you intend
to hunt.
A permit system for deer
hunting with a bow has been
established in the City. Per-

mits can be obtained at the
Police Department and ap-
plications must include a
signed statement from the
landowner stating that the
applicant has permission to
hunt on that land. Hunting
with bow is not allowed within
300 yards of any residential
structure, commercial struc-
'ture, park or playground and
not within 150 yards of any
trunk highway.
Please, please do adhere to
these rules. They are made for
all of us and are for
everyone's protection. The
most horrifying feeling is to
receive a call. from a resident
s'tating that someone is
shooting in the lot next to
theirs and has just shot a
small child playing in the
same area. The innocent are
, the, ones who always get hurt.
