<br />ABOUT <br />OUR JAYCEE WOMEN... <br /> <br />As this article is being written, the <br />Ramsey Jaycee Women, along with <br />over 5,000 other Minnesota Jaycee <br />Women, are celebrating Jaycee <br />Women Week, February 8-14, 1981. <br />It seems like a good time to reflect on <br />what we, as Jaycee Women, have <br />done and where we go from here. <br />In the past few months we have, <br />among other things, helped the Red <br />Cross with their Bloodmobile at City <br />Hall, raised money for the Kidney <br />Foundation, collected items for the <br />battered women's shelter in Anoka <br />County and held a Christmas <br />Boutique. <br />On November 23 we hosted our 2nd <br />Cystic Fibrosis Bowl For Breath at <br />the Super Bowl. It wasn't supported <br />as well this year as last, but we did <br />raise over $2,200.00. This money will <br />be used for research and to help pay <br />for the medication required by the <br />children afflicted with this deadly <br />disease. <br />Word received today (February 4) <br />that the Rescuci-Baby we ordered for <br />the Ramsey Police CPR classes <br />arrived. It was really great to be able <br />to do something that will benefit very <br />many of the Ramsey residents. <br />A cause we are becoming very <br />interested in is the shelter for <br />battered women, the Alexandra <br />House. Weare going to have a <br />representative of this facility at our <br />February meeting. From there we <br /> <br />will. decide what our ongoing project <br />will be. At present our thoughts are <br />to conduct clothing drives throughout <br />the year for them. If you are <br />interested in helping, please let us <br />know. <br />Don't think we don't have fun as <br />Jaycee Women, because we do. <br />Besides the terrific friendships made, <br />we have family parties and nights to <br />ourselves. In December we held our <br />3rd annual Christmas party for our <br />children and the children of Ramsey <br />Jaycees complete with Santa. <br />Everyon~ had a super time. Early in <br />January we had a ladies night out and <br />rap session at Esteban's. It was such <br />a success we plan to do it often. <br />In closing I would like to quote <br />Robert L. Woodard-Past National <br />Vice President of the Jaycees in a <br />poem he wrote entitled "Once In <br />Your Life": <br />"Once in your life, if you're <br />lucky, you will be asked to be a <br />Jaycee Woman. . . <br />Will you accept and say, "Yes, <br />I'm proud to be!"? <br />Each and every woman in Ramsey <br />is being asked today, "Will YOU <br />become a Jaycee Woman?" <br />Please contact Sylvia Gamec <br />421-7615 or Sharon Grabs 427-4262 <br />for complete details. There's something for <br />everyone at this year's roundup. <br /> <br />Remember! All proceeds from this <br />event are kept right at Ramsey <br />School and used for special school <br />lyceum programs for the benefit of all <br />little critters who attend school here. <br />Come and enjoy and support Ramsey <br />School's Lyceum Program too! <br /> <br />Also, remember to wear your <br />western boots, jeans and hats.
