- 2 -

announcements of this event.

The City Council of Ramsey is going to appoint a nine member Park and
Recreation Committee to work on the development of our park system and also
the recreation programs. The Council is also going to appoint a five member
Citizens Building Committee to advise the Council on the development of the
new municipal center building project. All interested citizens wishing to
serve on either committee, please contact the Administrative Assistant,
Donald Walker, at the City Hall, Phone 427-1410, as soon as possible. The
Mayor and Council wishes to work closer with the citizens of their community
for the total betterment of the City of Ramsey.

WE WISH TO WELCOME ON BOARD our new Administrative Assistant and new Building
Inspector. Our Administrative Assistant is Mr. Donald Walker, whocome;s to
us from the City of South St. Paul and Mr. Robert Casper, our Building Inspec-
tor comes to us from the City of Woodbury. We hope you will give them your
cooperation and help all of us to make Ramsey one of the finest cities in the
State of Minnesota in which to live.

SCHOOL DAYS are with us once again so active children are getting on and off
school buses and crossing our streets and highways allover the area. Please
keep them active by driving very carefully.

FALLIS ALWAYS CLEAN UP TIME before winter sets in. Let's keep our City as
clean as possible. Start with., our own back yards and work from there.

DOGS: Manypeop1e are permitting.their dogs to go out at the hours when it is
nor-daylight and they still do the same damage in the dark that they do in the
daytime. It causes serious trouble between neighbors and they could eliminate
this by using ali ttle more control of their dogs. "~~ _H'.~_~

DR. W. K. BRUNELL FROM THEANOKA-WEST PET HOSPITAL will be administering
vaccinations for dogs and cats Saturday, September 13th, from 8:00 a.m. to
12:00 noon. We hope, if your pet n~edsshots, you will come in at that time.
Fee schedules are as follows:
Rabies (dogs & cats)
Distemper & hepatitis
Leptospirosis ( dogs only)
The next clinic will be held December 13th at the

$3.00
5.00 (dogs
2.50
same hours.

& cats)

CITIZENS: Some have, been frustrated in your J3,ttemptsto control "weeds" in
your lawn this summer season. This category seems somewhat specious in
comparison with a category like "trees." Mostly for this reason, I have with-
drawn my committment to serve also as Weed Inspector, and tendered my resig-
nation to the City Council. My feelings are that this isa very broad, murky
and gray ttproblem."The successive stages in the changing ecology of land
used for field, woodland, meadow and swamp to a landowner's yard, creates a
tangled web of assumptions in all but a few cases regarding reasonable re-
sponsibility. In the service of fair play and good conscience, I thank you
for the opportunity to share my concern with the administrative inadequacy of
this concept....B. F. Bacon, Tree Inspector.

CITIZENS OF Ramsey: Soon the leaves will turn and fall. Our many wilted trees
will be scarcely identifiable for removal in the winter months. Recently I
was flown from the Industrial Airport and viewed the scattered and bunches of
wilted oaks throughout the municipality and the dead elms were visible along
the Mississippi, Rum and even Trott Brook watercourses. To control the elm
and oak shade tree fungus disease, it is necessary to remove these trees before

~
