- 2 -

LICENSING ORDINANCE was passed and all those operating such businesses as
mot.or vehicle, sales, motor vehicle rental, motor vehicle repair, all con-
tractors, bowling alleys, billiards, cigarette sales, music festivals and
gasoline sales and no person shall practice or carry on a business, trade,
or profession in the City without complying with all federal and state
regulations, laws, license or permit requirements and with the license and
permit requirements of any provision of this ordinance.

THE AIR SHOW will be coming to our City to the Gateway North Airport on
Highway 56 or Ramsey Blvd. on July 4, 5, and 6. The Snowbirds from Canada
will be the featured attraction. The show will start at 1:15 each day but
they urge you to come early, bring your lunch and if you have a camper,
etc., that is a nice thing to bring with you. It 1s good to cOile early to
avoid the heavy traffic and then stay after the show. If you bring your
supper and stay a while afterwards you will also avoid the traffic at the
close of the show.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL activities are beginning the 16th of June thru August 1st
for the summer program. If you have not received a brochure of activities,
contact the Community School 427-2690. The Lions Club is presently in-
stalling the necessary equipment at the school site for the implementation
of this program and others.

OUR POLICE DEPARTMENT was sworn in under the new City requirements as fol-
lows: Mike Auspos, Chief, Robert Hansel, David Gustafson and Thomas Ander-
son, patrolmen.

AWARENESS is the key word in any community effort aimed at preserving life
and property. Being aware means knowing that the people across the street
work days and that a car in their yard is out of the ordinary. It means
being a little suspicious about a car that frequently appears on the street
where children pass. Awareness means notifying the police about a missing
stop sign or construct.ion barricade and not just assuming that someone else
has already done so. It means knowing where and how to call for emergency
aid in case of sickness or injury. Remember, no call is too trivial for a
police department. to respond to or investigate if a citizen considered it
important enough to call about in the first place. Your police would rather
receive repetitious calls on a personal injury accident than to receive no
call until it is too late to help. Your law enforcement officers are here
to serve and protect you, the citizen. Don't forget that you are the com-
munity and the community is your concern and responsibility. Pleasehelp
us to help you.

PARKS: There is a new table in Shawn Acres Park. By the time you receive
this newsletter, the parks will be mowed and ready for fun. Another grill
is being ordered for Shawn Acres Park. There are now toilets in Peltzer
Park and Brookview Park. Trees have been planted in the parks so in the
future there will be shade for the picnic tables. We want to thank the
neighbors in Hunters Hill for their interest and help and also the 4-H
members who helped plant trees at Peltzer's Park. Any youth groups or
residents interested i~helping.the Park Board, should contact Kathy Schnei-
der at 421-5233. The parks presently do not have refuse recepticles, so
will you please dispose of all trash yourself? This will help keep the
cost of park maintenance down. The Ramsey School park equipment fund raiser
was a success. We wish to extend our thanks to the residents for their
support.
