- J -

WE WOULD LIKE you to be thinking about a proposed parking ordinance as fol-
lows: "No person shall park or pennit to be parked any vehicle on a public
street in the City of Ramsey during a snowfall, which has an accumulation
of two inches or more at street level or for twenty-four hours after the
cessation of such snowfall."

IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE who is not receiving the newsletter, please contact
the City Hall, 427-1410, and we will be glad to put their name on our mail-
ing list.

MRS. MEL JAMES OF THE BICENTENNIAL COMMITTEE is writing a history of Ramsey
which we hope to have printed and available to all. Anyone who has any
newspaper clippings, lpictures or information of any kind pertaining to the
past history of ramsey, is urged to contact Mrs. James. Great care will
be taken of your material but if you do not wish to have it leave your home,
she will come to your home and copy it. If you wish to call her the number
is 421-.3452.

WE NOW HAVE 603 families who are using Operation Identification. We know
the program is working well for us and hope you will help us to make it
work for you to protect your possessions. We will loan you an engraver
for free to mark your possessions. Just call this office to reserve an
engraver.
OUR TREE PLANTING PROGRAM was a success. We now have many more trees in
our City than we had before. We urge our residents to think about plant-
ing some trees this fall when we will have another tree planting sale such
as we had in May. Some places in our City are quite barren and if we plant
only one tree each year, it will soon make our City more beautiful, rest-
ful and healthy.

OUR TREE AND WEED INSPECTOR, Mr. Bacon, asks that we keep alert for any
trees where the leaves are wilting and then turning brown. This generally
indicates Dutch Elm Disease or Red Oak Wilt. He says there is no way to
miss it. Please call him if you see these signs on trees at 421-2199. If
he is not in leave your number and a message for him to call you or you can
call the City Hall, if you cannot reach him.

WE WANT TO THANK the people who so willingly helped us get out our last
newsletter, Kathy Schneider, Bruce Bacon, Betty Mickelson, and Patricia
Locher. It is real work and very much appreciated.

AGAIN WE WANT TO REMIND new residents and everyone else about your fire in-
surance coverage for fire calls. Be sure you have a clause in your fire
insurance policy to cover the cost of the fire call. If someone new moves
into your neighborhood, please inform them about this matter.

ARE YOU LISTENING TO KANO on Thursdays at 12 :45 p.m. The program now is
only for five minutes so you will have to listen carefully so as not to
miss it. Our thanks go to Mrs. Kathy Schneider, our reporter, for doing
this thankless job for us every week for free 1 It would be an unwelcome
responsibility for most of us, even if we were being paid for itl

REFLECTIVE HOUSE NUMBERS, 4 inches high, that are visible from the street,
are required bI ordinance for every house or business in our City for our
safety and protection so an ambulance or police car can easily find its way.
