- 2 -

Residents of Ramsey. Township are reminded that dogs require a license.
Dogs that are outside of your own personal property are liable to be picked
up. The dog catcher has been instructed to pick up dogs not on their own
premises because of the number of complaints we have received. There will
be a dog clinic at the Town Hall, probably some time in March. The date
has not been set as yet. Another reminder is that you can obtain your dog
license at the Town hall any week day between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. It
is now good for two years.

We would like to urge our residents to be thinking about planting trees
when spring comes around. If we plant even one tre~ a year, it will soon
make our Township more beautiful, restful, and healthy.

We want to remind residents about the "Project Hue and Cry" explained in
the newsletter for February 1973. This title comes from Merrie Olde Eng-
lande when they did not have police organizations and the individual citi-
zens would sound the alarm for help in case of danger or if a crime was
being committed. Law enforcement officers are here to protect and serve
the citizens but the State and County want us to become as. "self-help" as
possible and one of these ways is by being very aware of what is going on
around us and especially in our neighborhoods. To be aware is a community
effort aimed at preserving life and property. To be aware does not mean
that a homeowner should conduct "spy" operations on a neighbor or that one
must become the neighborhood "busybody." Being aware.means knowing that
the people across.the street wOr:'kq.ays and. that a car in their yard is out
of the ordinary. It meansheing a little suspicious about a car.that fre-
quently appears just at the same time the school children are coming home
and just seems to be cruising around. Awareness means notifying the police
about a missing stop sign or construction barricade and not just assuming
that someone else has already done so. And it means knowing where and how
to call for emergency.aid incase of sickness or injury. Remember no call
is too trivial for-a police department to respond to o~ investigate if a
ci tizen considered it important enough to call a.bout it in the first place.
Your police would rather receive repetitious calls on a personal injury
accident than to receive no Gall until it is too late to help. . Don't for-
get that you are the community and the community is your concern and re-
sponsibility. .

Operation Identification is going fine. As with any idea qr project, par-
ticipation is the key to any profit realized. Your help is needed to
assist us in helping you., This program is free of any charge to residents
and businesses.in'Ramsey Township. We have many homes that are now using
this program and we hope many more people will come in to get a number and
use the engraver~It has cut robbery way down in the Township.
