The area is known as the former Gateway North Industrial Airport.
AEC will build a combined headquarters and warehouse facility on the property.
The move is expected to be complete by mid-1996.
"Our decision to build in Ramsey is the result of two years of study, and we
feel we have selected the best alternative to serve our rapidly growing customer
f
base," said Rick Newland, AEC's General Manager. "Access was an important
factor in our decision making process. Access for our employees, our vehicles
and our customers. We will be able to best serve our customers from Ramsey."
AEC currently owns two pieces of property in Anoka. The headquarters
building is on Main and Ferry Street, and the warehouse is on Fifth A venue. Plans
for both Anoka properties will be announced at a later date.
AEC has experienced growth rate of approximately 30% in the last seven
years n from 61,000 customers in 1987 to the 80,000 homes and businesses the
utility serves today. That amounts to about 8,000 to 9,000 new people per year.
AEC is the largest non-profit, customer-owned electric utility in Minnesota
--serving almost 80,000 homes and businesses in portions of Anoka, Sherburne,
Isanti, Ramsey, Chisago, Hennepin and Washington Counties.

RAMSEY SENIOR NEWS

We could see some of the colors of fall as we made our way to the October Ram'..~y Senior Club meeting. There was a good turnout
and, of course, the food was delicious. Jerry Konen, president of the Ramsey Lions club was with us, telling us of the various "helps" and
treats the Lions have in store for us. We so much appreciate this, as we cannot do for ourselves like we used to.
We were sorry that Rolly Rambow could not be with us, as his musical instrument broke down and could not be fixed in time for this
meeting. We have a "rain check", however. Instead, we played penny bingo, and it proved to be an enjoyable day after all.
We lost two of our old-time members this past month: Jeanette Bauer and Walter Scroggins. They will be missed.
For our November 2 meeting, ~eare having Bill Mauer, an RN from Health I, here. He will show slides and speak about Senior Safety,
and Alcohol and Medical Awareness. He works for Unity and Mercy Hospital's Emergency Department. This should be an interesting
presentation.
December 7 is our Christmas Party. Plans are being made fora good time. We again are to bring either a toy or food for the Anoka "Toys
for Joy" organization. The "Anoka Blenders" will be with us forentertainmenl. The punch bowl will be ready and our spirilSjolly. Do come
and join us. Visitors are always welcome. Join our club!
Bertha Mae Johnston, President - 421-3732.

CITY OF RAMSEY:

Ramsey Resident
Ramsey Municipal Center
15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W.
Ramsey, MN 55303

CAR-RT SRT
BULK RATE
U.S. POSTAGE
PAID
PERMIT NO. 131
ANOKA, MN 55303

Mayor:
James Gilbertson
Council members:
Sheila Beyer
Glen Hardin
Kenneth Peterson
Gerald Zimmerman
City Administrator:
Ryan Schroeder 427-1410
Administnitive Offices: 427 -1410
Public Works Department: 427-4180
Parks Deptirtment: 427-1741
Police Department: 427-6812
Fire Department: 427 -367 4
Fire and Police Emergency: 911
TDD: 427-8591
Office Hours: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Monday through Friday

441-4077

753-4314
441-0535
427 -3844
753-4387

'\..

POSTAL CUSTOMER

./
