It was a gray day, but the drizzle helO
off ~lllater on in the afternoon. This was our Christmas Party -- and it was a dandyl The decorations
were superb, the punch was tasty, the food delicious, and most everyone said the program was great.
We used our own home grown talent. We had readings, a solo, a number from a .newly formed.
quartet, fun songs, and group singing. We are fortunate to have such talent among us and thankful that
they are willing to participate. The door prizes were several poinsettias, boxes of candy and a surprise
package. We collected food and toys for the ANOKA TOYS FOR JOY. Our thanks to Chester
Tollefson who graciously offered to deliver the goods in his pick-up. Several members also signed up
to work at the Armory to sort and package these items later in the month for the needy.
After the meeting, some of us took a poinsettia and made a visit to the home of Walter Scroggins,
one of our old time members, who has been ill and home bound. His sister, Dorothy, met us at the door
and we had a nice visit.
January 5th is the date of our next meeting. We will have our usual pot luck meal at noon. After the
business meeting, we will play penny bingo. Hope the weather cooperates so that we can all get there.
Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. See you at the January meeting.

Bertha Mae Johnston, President:

421-3732

IPS FACILITY APPROVED

On December 14, 1993, the Council approved a Conditional Use Permit to operate an enclosed
organic compost facility located just south of the Anoka Regional Sanitary Landfill. The finished product will be Class A compost used L.
landscapers, nurseries, and road contractors. The material is also anticipated as suitable for home
gardening and for use as residential top soil.
The facility will require a license from Anoka County and a permit from the Minnesota Pollution
Control Agency due to the processing of waste materials. The site plan for the facility has not yet been
reviewed by the City. It is currently expected that the Ramsey Planning Commission will conduct the
Site Plan review at its January or February meeting.
