<br />8 <br />_ CROSS RELEASES FIRST <br />AID NIl OIILDREN TODAY <br /> <br />The American Red Cross has recently released a <br />new health and safety program specifically for <br />children in kindergarten through third grade. In the <br />First Aid for Children Today (F.A.C.T.) program, <br />animals from all parts of the world guide children on a <br />fun path to discover ways to help themselves and <br />others be aware of dangers, prevent injuries and harm <br />and respond when injuries do happen. Not only do <br />children learn about heanh for themselves, they learn <br />what first aid measures they can take to help the <br />environment as well. <br />If you would like more information about the <br />FAC.T. program or other American Red Cross safety <br />programs for children or adults, call the Anoka County <br />Branch office at 785-1557. <br /> <br />PUBLIC ACCESS <br />BROADCAST SCHEDULE <br /> <br />Channel 16 . You ca" <br />help keep that person in their own home for as long as possible, by providing time o~ <br />and peace of mind for their caregiver. <br />Respite volunteers provide care to caregivers by giving them regular time away from <br />the constant demands of their caregiving duties. Respite is a necessity, not a luxury! <br />The Respite Program's mission is to provide caregivers with the support they need to <br />continue caring for their loved ones in the familiar surroundings of home among family <br />and friends. <br />Men and women of all ages are needed to act as a companion to the care receiver. <br />Volunteers do not administer medication or do any housekeeping. Qualifications include <br />the willingness to be a friend and a good listener, ability to interact with people who are <br />elderly, ability to commit a minimum of four hours a month, and a willingness to attend <br />training. <br />Training will be provided in February. For more information call Suzanne Tuttle at <br />422-6960, Anoka County Volunteer Respite Program. <br /> <br />RAMSEY LIONS UPDATE <br /> <br />The Ramsey Lions continue to meet the first and third Wednesdays of the month at <br />McDuff's in Ramsey. For membership information call Membership Chairperson Dennis <br />Anderson at 421-7360. Listed below are some of the recent club donations: <br /> <br />. $5.00 per member to Minnesota Hearing Dog program. <br />. $576.00 to Ramsey Boy Scout Troop #362 for equipment. <br />. $2,000.00 to cover awards and books for the Ramsey Elementary School Book <br />Readathon. <br />. $1,000.00 each to the Anoka and Elk River all-night High School graduation <br />parties. <br />. $1000,00 to ARC, a disability organization, of Anoka County. <br />. $750.00 to the Leukemia Society of America for a Ramsey patient. <br />. $30.00 to Burns Township for the Senior Citizens Club to purchase a coffee pot. <br />. Funded 10 Ramsey youths to attend the Moore Productions, New Years' Eve <br />Drug/Alcohol-free party. <br />.
