The dead and broken material remaining in the trees will create a hazard for all oaks if they cause branches and trees to fall during storms next May and June. The resulting wounds could allow the oak wilt fungus to enter damaged trees. Kunde Co., Inc. is a private urban forestry consultant working with the City of Ramsey to suppress oak wilt disease. President Steve Kunde recommends the following steps to protect oak trees: Remove all or as many of the dead or broken branches as you can by April 15, 1998. Identify any leaning trees which have been blown into other trees and have them removed. Assess your lot for the possibility of dead and broken branches which could fall and cause injury to people or damage to property. If you need to trim during the warm months of the year (before October 15), use a tree wound dressing on oaks. RAMSEY WOMEN OF TODAY INVITE YOU TO JOIN! The Ramsey Women of Today, a community service organization, is as busy as ever and has something to offer everyone. Projects such as the Adopt-a Highway cleanup; Run, Yell & Tell child safety program; Ramsey Community picnic; and the Halloween party at Ramsey Elementary School are just a few ways the Ramsey Women of Today serves the community. Through working on projects or holding board positions, there is an opportunity to gain valuable leadership and organizational skills that can be used in everyday life. Come and meet new friends as you serve your community Ramsey Women of Today welcomes any woman over 18 years of age to join this active and exciting group.
