Adopt -A -Flag <br />You may have <br />seen the beautiful <br />American Flags <br />lining Sunwood <br />Drive NW in front <br />of Ramsey City <br />Hall. Did you know <br />you can sponsor <br />one of these flags <br />to show civic pride <br />or honor a loved <br />one's memory? <br />Public. The flags are placed on the light poles shortly before <br />Memorial Day and removed after Veterans Day. <br />Your one-time donation will be acknowledged with an <br />engraved nameplate displayed in City Hall and at a City <br />Council meeting. <br />There are two Adopt -A -Flag patronage levels. Friends of <br />the Flag is $50 and sponsors one of the 2' by 3' flags. The <br />other is the Patriot Sponsorship, at $500. Zero Zone Refrigeration is <br />requesting financial assistance relating to their proposed <br />55,000-square-foot expansion in Ramsey. The proposed <br />expansion will result in the creation of 55-70 new jobs <br />with starting wages exceeding $21.00/hr. Zero Zone is <br />requesting a $360,000 Pay -Go TIF Note with a 6% Interest <br />Rate to assist with TIF-eligible site costs. Zero Zone is also <br />requesting state incentives (MIF, JCF) that the City would <br />manage to assist with the construction of the building, <br />purchase of machinery and equipment and job creation. <br />Council unanimously approved the three resolutions related <br />to financial assistance. <br />The final case was to consider supporting the Ramsey <br />Police Department's Funding Application to the Shakopee <br />Mdewakanton Sioux Community. The purchase and <br />implementation of a public safety drone has been discussed <br />over several budget cycles, with the 2026 budget identifying <br />funding for both the acquisition of the equipment and the <br />launch of the program. The Police Department's goal is to <br />have the drone program operational by the first quarter of <br />2026. <br />The drone program is expected to provide several key <br />public safety benefits, including: <br />• Assisting in the search for and location of missing or <br />endangered individuals <br />• Supporting the safe apprehension of fleeing suspects <br />• Enabling officers to manage potentially dangerous <br />individuals from a safe distance <br />To support this initiative, the Police Department <br />is applying for a donation through the Shakopee <br />Mdewakanton Sioux Community Equipment Donation <br />Program. As part of the application, letters of support will <br />be included upon approval.
