f 16 GRAND OPENING CELEBRATIONS Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department invites the public to celebrate the. opening of two parks on the Rum River. Both grand openings will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999, and will offer activities for families and youth. Grand opening ceremonies will begin at 10:00 a.m. The Rum River North County Park grand opening will celebrate the redevelopment of the northern most park in Anoka County. The park now features a new creative playground designed, in part, by the kids who frequented the local county library, a group picnic pavilion, a four-season meeting building, new parking lots and roadways, paved and limestone trails, and a fishing deck on the river. The grand opening ceremony at Rum River Central Regional Park will be filled with outdoor activities for youth and families. Beginning at 10:00 a.m., a living history perfomlance will take place and focus on the period of time when explorers first traveled the Rum River. The formal ceremony will begin at 11 :30 a.m. and will be immediately followed by a free barbecue lunch. Canoe trips, bike rides and live performances will follow lunch and continue through 3:00 p.m. All activities are free this day. RAMSEY SENIORS The Ramsey Seniors met on April 7, 1999, with carolers for entertainment. Bill Weise asked for volunteers to help with the Lions picnic on June 5th. Some signed up to help, but he will be back in May to see if more are interested. Red Johnson from Champlin will be our program next month with songs and a sing-a-long. We will have our Club picnic at Central Park in July. It was nice to have the snow birds back! Thanks to all who kept the club going in the winter months.
