From: Thomas Sparrow
To: Ramsey Planning
Subject: Lot 3, Block 1, Haubrich Addition
Date: Tuesday, August 26, 2025 9:40:04 AM
Good day planning committee,
My wife Sue and I live at 5900 151st Lane NW, 55303 directly across from the proposed
addition. We were at the last meeting but unable to attend on August 28th.
Our concerns remain the same...SAFETY, preservation of our neighborhood feel, preservation
of natural resources, maintain home values, and assure the enjoyment of our properties as
they currently exist.
The average Minnesota family has approximately 2 vehicles. Adding 6 new homes will
increase traffic, statistically, by 12 additional vehicles. 151st Lane has not been maintained
very well in the time we have resided here and I cannot imagine additional traffic is going to
help the road conditions. Nor will heavy excavating equipment throughout the construction
of these properties be helpful in maintaining safe passable roads.
There is still a concern about 151st Lane being a dead end with no outlet. If vehicles are
parked on both sides of the road, it is unlikely emergency services vehicles will be able to
pass. This is a concern that has been discussed by myself and other neighbors. Also, during
the school year there is a heavy amount of traffic in the morning and afternoon at the start
and end of the school day. The traffic will be on either side of 151st creating safety issues for
pedestrians and/or emergency vehicles.
The removal of all the beautiful, mature oak trees is, in my opinion, disgusting. These trees
help create the mature neighborhood feel we have had for 12 years. Removing them and
replacing with new, non -mature trees, detracts from the neighborhood feel. The homes being
placed at the front of the lots will create a crowded look upon entry to the neighborhood.
All of the neighbors I have talked to, including those at the previous meeting, and those who
have been passing by agree that adding some properties is inevitable, but 6 is simply too many
within this neighborhood. Three, 1 acre lots would be more than welcome and allow for
adequate taxation for property and building. Density can be made up elsewhere in Ramsey in
a NEW development.
Thanks for your time and taking our concerns/considerations into mind.
Tom Sparrow and Sue Lorch
