Thorson@ anokacountvmn. aov <br />FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br />Spotlight on Opioids and Overdose Event Oct. 4 <br />Come and see how Anoka County is responding to the opioid epidemic at a free event <br />10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Spring Lake Park High School, 1100 81st Ave. NE, Spring <br />Lake Park. <br />This event aims to raise awareness about overdose prevention and provide support for <br />individuals and families who are or may be affected by substance misuse. <br />Hosted by the Anoka County Opioid Solutions Initiative (ACOSI), the day will be filled <br />with insightful education, discussions, and informative presentations by experts on opioids, <br />fentanyl, and the potential hidden dangers in your medicine cabinet. A Naloxone Education Station <br />will offer free Naloxone, which is used to treat opioid overdoses, and training will be available <br />throughout the day. A panel of people with opioid related experiences will share their stories of <br />addiction, loss, recovery, and hope. Over 40 community health care, treatment, and recovery <br />related resource tables will also be present. Free pizza will be provided. <br />"This free event is a vital opportunity for our community to come together, learn, and take <br />action," said District 7 Anoka County Commissioner Mandy Meisner, who serves as the lead <br />commissioner on the county's Human Services Committee of the Whole. "Opioid misuse and <br />overdose have touched too many lives in Anoka County. By offering education, resources, and <br />support, we're empowering residents to be part of the solution.
