ORDINANCE #25-09 <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY CHARTER OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA <br /> <br /> <br />The City of Ramsey ordains: <br /> <br />Underlined text is inserted into the Charter. <br />Strikethrough text is deleted from the Charter. <br /> <br />SECTION 1. AUTHORITY <br /> <br />This Ordinance is adopted pursuant to the authority of the City Charter of the City of Ramsey and <br />such authority as it is given under Minnesota Statutes Section 410.12, subdivision 7. <br /> <br />SECTION 2. <br /> <br />Sec. 2.5. Vacancies of the City of Ramsey Charter is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />Sec. 2.5. Vacancies. <br /> <br />A vacancy in the council, whether it be in the office of mayor or councilmember, shall be <br />deemed to exist in the case of the failure of any person elected thereto to qualify, or by reason of <br />the death, resignation in writing filed with the city clerk, removal from office, non-residence in <br />the city or respective ward, conviction of a felony of any such person after his/her election, or by <br />reason of the failure of any councilmember without good cause to attend council meetings for a <br />period of three consecutive months. In each such case, the council shall publicly declare by <br />resolution, the vacancy to exist within 15 days of its occurrence and such vacancy shall be filled <br />according to the provisions of section 4.5. <br /> <br />Temporary non-residence of a councilmember in their respective ward, may be permitted due to <br />unforeseen emergency circumstances so long as the intent of the councilmember is to <br />permanently re-establish ward residency within a six-month period. Council may deem it <br />necessary to allow for additional time depending on the severity of the cause for temporary <br />residency outside of the ward. <br /> <br />SECTION 3. <br /> <br />Sec. 3.1. Council meetings. of the City of Ramsey Charter is amended to read as follows: <br /> <br />
