August 3, 2005 Jim Norman City Administrator City of Ramsey 15153 Nowthen Blvd., NW Ramsey,~ 55303 Subject: Regional Wastewater Service for City of Ramsey Dear Mr. Norman: On May 25,2005, the Metropolitan Council adopted its Water Resources Management Policy Plan, which includes the Regional Wastewater System Plan. The Wastewater System Plan includes long-term wastewater service for all ofthe City of Ramsey, as indicated to you by my staff at today's meeting. Our Wastewater System Plan also contains a general capital improvement plan, which includes a series of capital projects that we plan to construct over the next 10-15 years to provide the long-term capacity to serve Ramsey and other northwest area communities. In the near-term, our plans are: (1) to install larger pumps in our western Anoka lift station (L42) this fall; and (2) to further expand this lift station's capacity and to construct two 24-inch diameter forcemains across Anoka in 2006. These forcemains will have the capacity to serve all of Ramsey. We anticipate that these improvements will meet the City's short-term and long-term wastewater service needs. At its August 24 meeting, the Metropolitan Council will be approving revised community forecasts for inclusion in System Statements that will be issued shortly thereafter. We would like your comments on Ramsey's forecasts by August 17, so that we can present your comments to the Council for their consideration. Currently, the household forecasts for Ramsey are: Year 2010 2020 2030 Total 10,300 15,500 16,500 Sewered 7,500 14,000 16,000 We look forward to your comments. Sincerely, William G.
