Anoka County
ADMINISTRATION
Communications
October 15, 2025
Contact: Erik Thorson, Communications Director, 763-324-4612, or e-mail:
Erik.Thorson@co.anoka.mn.us
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Anoka County Honors Medlink Volunteer Drivers
Volunteers who drive for Anoka County's Medlink Transportation Program were honored
during a Sept. 30 luncheon at the Courtyards of Andover.
Between Sept. 1, 2024, and Aug. 31, 2025, volunteer drivers racked up a total of
124,662 miles on 5,155 trips, driving passengers primarily to veterans' medical facilities, as well
as other clinics and medical facilities. Anoka County Medlink drivers contributed 6,745 hours of
service. That represents more than 248 days.
Commissioner Mike Gamache, chair, Anoka County Board of Commissioners,
commended all the drivers for their service.
"My fellow commissioners and I thoroughly enjoy coming to the Medlink luncheon every
fall and seeing the dozens of drivers who make this program possible," said Mike Gamache, chair,
Anoka County board of Commissioners. "This service is integral in our county, as many residents
need reliable transportation to and from appointments, and the drivers oftentimes develop
relationships that go beyond the simple act of transportation. Making those connections can turn
out to be just as important as making sure people get to where they need to be on time."
Several drivers were specially honored for their long years of volunteer service with the
Medlink Transportation Program: 5 years of service Cindy Murawski; 10 years of service
Jerry Barber, Joe Glinsek, Gary Groess, Doris LaVoi, Maxine Miller, Herman Weigel.
-more-
Respectful, Innovative, Fiscally Responsible
Government Center A 2100 3rd Avenue, Suite 700 A Anoka, MN 55303-5024 A www.anokacounty.us
Office: 763-324-4700 A Fax: 763-324-5490
Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
