Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec announced the Mayors Prayer Breakfast will be held at the Lord of Life Church <br />on March 16. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig left the meeting. <br /> <br />Case #11: <br /> <br />Consider Accepting Letter of Resignation from Environmental Policy Board <br />Member <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Cook, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to adopt Resolution #06- <br />12-383 accepting the letter of resignation from Environmental Policy Board Member Ron <br />Hustvedt. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec directed staffto send Mr. Hustvedt a letter ofthanks for his service. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Cook, Jeffrey, Olson, Pearson, <br />and Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Elvig. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig retuned to the meeting. <br /> <br />Case #12: <br /> <br />Authorization to Hire Paid On-Call Fire Fighters <br /> <br />Human Resources Manager Reed Kone stated due to the need to provide fire protection services <br />to Burns Township, staff began a recruitment process to hire ten, paid, on-call fire fighters. A <br />fire fighter orientation was held in September and interviews and physical agility tests were <br />conducted in October. Candidates were interviewed by a panel consisting ofthe Fire Chief, both <br />Assistant Fire Chiefs, the Fire Marshal, and the Human Resources Manager. At this time staff is <br />recommending the following individuals be hired as paid-on-call fire fighters: Justin Borer, Bart <br />Hayft, Chad Hayft, Kyle Hemmerich, Andrew Johnson, Jeffrey Roley, Shane Swedeen, and <br />Lance Weatherly. All eight individuals have successfully completed background checks and <br />medical exams. These individuals would be hired at an hourly wage of$12.50 and would begin <br />employment on December 13, 2006, with a one year probation period. The remaining two <br />positions will be filled at a to-be-determined time in the future. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Pearson, seconded by Councilmember Cook, to adopt Resolution <br />#06-12-384 authorizing the hire of paid- on-call fire fighters. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Pearson, Cook, Elvig, Jeffrey, <br />Olson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />City Council / December 12, 2006 <br />Page 22 of 29 <br />
