CC Regular Session
Meeting Date:
12/09/2025
Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention
Title
Consider Accepting Donated Exercise Equipment
5. 2.
Purpose/Background:
In August of this year, the City Council approved the establishment of an Employee Wellness Room at City Hall.
Since opening, the room has been used daily by City Hall staff and has supported the City's ongoing efforts to
promote employee health and wellness.
The Wellness Room currently contains limited equipment, including two yoga mats, two 3-pound weights, and a
leg -raising machine that had previously been unused by the Police Department. With the room now in regular use,
multiple staff members have expressed interest in donating additional exercise equipment to further enhance the
space. Per City policy, all donations to the City must be formally accepted by the City Council. During discussion
with the City Council, it was stated that before any donation is accepted, the Building Maintenance Supervisor
will conduct an inspection to assess the safety, usability, and overall condition of the equipment. This review will
also consider any potential risk exposures or ongoing maintenance responsibilities that may arise from adding the
equipment to the Wellness Room.
The Building Maintenance Supervisor reviewed the request to accept an elliptical machine, offered for donation
by Ms. Wendy Schlueter, a city employee. It is estimated to be 13 years old, in good condition, and worth
approximately $300 as a second-hand item. The Building Maintenance Supervisordeemed the equipment suitable for
employee use.
Notification:
Council discussed this matter at the work session on November 25, 2025.
Funding Source:
There is no direct fiscal impact associated with accepting donated exercise equipment. Any equipment approved
for use will be donated at no cost to the City. Inspections will be conducted using existing staff resources.
Recommendation:
To accept a donated elliptical exercise machine from Ms. Wendy Schlueter for use in the employee wellness
room.
OutcomeAction:
Motion to accept a donated elliptical exercise machine from Ms. Wendy Schlueter for use in the employee
wellness room.
No file(s) attached.
Attachments
Form Review
