)11 Anoka County
ADMINISTRATION
Communications
December 4, 2025
Contact: Erik Thorson, Chief Communications Officer, 763-324-4612, or e-mail:
Erik. That approach met past needs but is no longer sustainable for Anoka County
to continue providing expected services to residents while remaining competitive regionally,
statewide and nationally. The 2026 budget also anticipates program shifts from the state and
federal levels beginning in late 2026, as well as impacts of Minnesota's new Paid Leave Program.
"The board and our county staff understand the impact this levy has on taxpayers, and we
do not take the responsibility of implementing this levy lightly," said Mike Gamache, chair, Anoka
County Board of Commissioners. "Past investments and wage adjustments were funded with one-
time reserves, and this is simply not possible any longer. Continued reliance on reserves would
-more-
Respectful, Innovative, Fiscally Responsible
Government Center A 2100 3rd Avenue, Suite 700 A Anoka, MN 55303-5024 A www.anokacountymn.gov
Office: 763-324-4700 A Fax: 763-324-5490
Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity Employer
