Winter Snow Information
Ramsey’s Public Works Department is dedicated to
ensuring our roads are safe and accessible during winter
weather. Here’s what you need to know:
Plowing will start once the snowfall reaches two inches.
Usually, the snowplows begin their work around 2:00
a.m. ? ey ? rst clear the main roads, then move on to
neighborhood streets
and ? nally tackle
trails and sidewalks.
? e crews will be
•
responsible for clearing
860 intersections, 301
•
cul-de-sacs and over
190 miles of paved roads, as well as two gravel roads.
•
Several factors aff ect how snowplowing is done,
including the weather conditions, how quickly the snow
•
builds up and the order in which streets are cleared.
? e type of salt used on the roads depends on the
•
temperature.
To assist with snow removal, you can mark your
•
property line with free stakes that are available at the
Public Works Facility. Each household may take up to six
stakes. ? ese stakes should be placed 20 to 30 feet apart
•
along the edges of your property. You can use ? berglass or
aluminum stakes with re? ectors, but make sure they are
•
breakaway types—NO metal fence posts.
•
Please note that parking is not allowed on any public
•
street year-round from 2:00 to 6:00 a.m. Vehicles parked
•
during these hours could be cited or towed. During a snow
event, the City asks that residents refrain from parking on
•
City streets until the roads have been cleared.
Remember to keep your garbage and recycling
containers in your driveway, behind the curb and off the
street. Also, don’t forget to remove basketball hoops from
FACTS
cul-de-sacs during winter to help crews plow the roads
eff ectively.
If you need to ? nd out about snow activities outside
regular hours, you can call our Snow Activity Information
Line at 763-433-9852. ? is line is only in use during
the snowplowing season and will not be monitored for
messages.
Have you tried the “Report a Problem to Public Works”
feature on our website, www.cityoframsey.com, under
Popular Links? It’s a great way to communicate issues and
we will respond via email or phone.
For more information, please visit the City’s website
at www.cityoframsey.com/253 or contact Marsha
National Fire
Protection Association
Weidner, Public Works Administrative Assistant, at
? e leading information and knowledge resources
on ? re, electrical and related hazards
mweidner@cityoframsey.com or 763-433-9839.
nfpa.org/education
Ramsey Resident | November/December 2025
9
