CASE # 2 WINTER BUSINESS CONNECTION MEETING By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator Background: The EDA Directed Staff to work with Anoka County Partners to secure a Speaker for the 2007 Winter Business Connection Meeting. Staff was directed to secure the Alexander Ramsey Room for this event. Staff met with David Piggott on January 4th and discussed options for the event. Anoka County Partners has agreed to finance the Speaker and associated costs and Staff is working on securing more dollars for costs associated with the invites and catering. Observations: Staff has researched the logistics of the Alexander Ramsey Room and it should accommodate our needs. The room has a capacity of 100 for an event of this type and it can be set up for large pods that will allow face to face contact. Well's Catering, if chosen by this body, will be contacted once the date is secured to cater the event. Ramsey Rotary has also expressed interest in partnering with the Business Connection Meeting. Staff proposes the event be financed as follows. . Anoka County Partners: Speaker and all associated marketing costs . Ramsey Rotary: Cost of Food and beverages (100 people) . Ramsey EDA: Invitations (Approximately 300-400) A speaker or topic needs to be chosen for the event. At this time we have only potential topics. It is possible that a list will be available by the meeting date and if so we could choose a speaker then. The topics include: . Transportation . Business Climate . Regional Trends . Image . Redevelopment Or a combination Recommendation: The EDA select as the speaker for the Business Connection meeting and continue to work with Anoka County Partners and Ramsey Rotary to coordinate and finance this event. -and- The EDA authorize purchasing and mailing of the invitations associated with the Business Connection Breakfast. 10
