5. 11. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />01/13/2026 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br />Title <br />Authorization to Hire an Engineering Technician II <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request the City Council's authorization to hire an Engineering Technician II. <br />A recruitment was conducted. Mr. Clint Williams met the requirements of the position and was included in the <br />recruitment process. Staff completed the necessary background checks and is recommending that Mr. Clint <br />Williams be hired as a full-time Engineering Technician II. <br />With the City Council's authorization, Mr. Clint Williams will start as the City's new Engineering Technician II <br />on or near February 2, 2026. Mr. Williams, as with all City employees recognized by the American Federation of <br />State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) bargaining unit, will serve a six-month probationary period <br />and will be subject to the City's Personnel Policy and the AFSCME Labor Agreement. <br />The primary objective of this position is to assist in the application of principles, methods, and techniques of civil <br />engineering technology. This position will perform support engineering work including construction inspection <br />and materials testing, land surveying, plan review, and public service duties related to public works. This position <br />will also perform routine and entry-level technical engineering work to support the construction of sewer, <br />stormwater, street, and water systems, and other public works projects and programs.
