CASE # <br />REDEVELOPMENT OF THE 2002 CDBG PARCELS <br />By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development / TIF Specialist <br />Background: <br />Staff completed the acquisition of both the Chies and Morrell properties in late 2003. <br />The terms of the grant state that the property must be cleared of the existing blight one <br />the properties within one year of acquisition in order to facilitate redevelopment. Staff <br />has completed a pre -demolition survey for the Morrell building and is ready to take bids <br />for the demolition and "clean-up" of both the Chies and Morrell parcels. Staff has had <br />many inquiries on the availability of these one acre parcels and feels it would be <br />imperative to have these properties available for development this Spring. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that the EDA recommend to City Council to continue to proceed with <br />the CDBG process and commence demolition, blight removal and site preparation for <br />both the Chies and Morrell properties. <br />EDA Action: <br />Based on discussion. <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Administrator <br />EDA: 02/09/04 <br />
