Case #5 Ramsey City Staff Updates Memorandum

Economic Development Budget Update: City Staff provided a City Council Case coversheet prepared by Finance Officer Diana Lund explaining the break downs of certain line items. (See
March 23, 1999 Finance Committee Case #2.)

North Suburban Home Improvement Show: City Staff reported that as of March 2, 1999 forty-six vendors registered to exhibit at the event. Only three booth vacancies remained. Each City
will have space available for handouts and other information for residents in attendance. The Anoka Area Chamber of Commerce is providing concessions as a fundraising event. The committee
anticipates being able to return one half of each city’s $1,500 donation.

Business Appreciation Day: City Staff reported that the Mayor and Staff have been negotiating with The Links at Northfork on prices for the golf tournament and the dinner following.
The EDA members directed Staff to solicit a bid from JR’s to cater the event, and to get a bid from Rum River Hills Golf Course and McDuff’s for price comparison. Also, the members
suggested Staff contact JR’s to avoid conflicts with their annual golf tournament date.

Council Action:

No action is necessary at this time.

Case #6: City Brochure

Natalie Haas Steffen presented an idea to the EDA for future discussion to produce a marketing brochure for the City of Ramsey highlighting local parks, trails, businesses, schools and
services to new resident and business prospects.

Council Action:

No action is necessary at this time.

Case #7 Business Survey

Natalie Haas Steffen presented the idea of surveying the business community in Ramsey to help the City identify key issues for business retention and expansion. She also suggested City
Staff contact an organization called Community Partners for assistance in developing the survey.

Council Action:

No action is necessary at this time.

Reviewed by:

Community Development Director

CC: 03/23/99
