<br />Councilmember Jeffrey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #06-10-317 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE DEVELOPMENT AND CONSTRUCTION <br />OF THE MULTI-USE MISSISSIPPI RIVER REGIONAL TRAIL CORRIDOR <br /> <br />WHEREAS, Anoka County is pursuing the development of a multi-purpose regional trail <br />system that would link local and state trail systems, regional parks, and provide safe and <br />convenient routes for non-motorized traffic to traverse the County; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 1996, the Metropolitan Council adopted a Regional Trails Policy <br />Amendment to its Regional Recreation Open Space Development Guidelines/Policy Plan for the <br />implementation of corridors which provide access to high quality natural resources, regional <br />parks, park reserves, and local areas of interest; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mississippi River Regional Trail Corridor would link together the cities <br />of Anoka and Ramsey, Sherburne County, Mississippi West Regional Park, Central Anoka <br />County and Bunker Lake and Rum River Regional Trails; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this trail may also be extended to connect the Historic Oliver Kelley Farm <br />and Ramsey's Town Center, and Ramsey Transit Station; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Mississippi River Regional Trail Corridor is strategically located to <br />provide immediate pedestrian access to the recreational resources at Riverdale Park, Mississippi <br />West Regional Park, the trails of the MNRRA corridor and the Mississippi River. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br /> <br />1) That the City of Ramsey hereby offers its support to Anoka County in the effort to <br />cooperatively develop the Mississippi River Regional Trail Corridor. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Pearson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Pearson <br />Councilmember Cook <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Olson <br />Councilmember Strommen <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 06-10-317 <br />Page 1 of2 <br />
