Commission member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #07-O1-XXX <br />A RESOLUTION RECOMMENDING THAT -.THE CITY COUNCIL ENACT AN <br />ORDINANCE TO AMEND CITY CHARTER SECTION 2.1 BY REQUIRING THAT <br />THE CITY BE GOVERNED BY THE COUNCIL-MANAGER PLAN OF <br />GOVERNMENT. <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Commission has considered changing the City's form of <br />government form aMayor-Council. Plan to aCouncil-Manager Plan known as Optional Plan B <br />under Minnesota Statutes, Section 412.611 et.seq.; and <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Commission has reviewed and compared the City's. current <br />form of government. which is the Mayor-Council Plan with the. Council-Manager Plan form of <br />government; and <br />WHEREAS, the Charter Commission has had input from a presentation by the League <br />of Minnesota Cities, reviewed written material from the League of Minnesota Cities, and has had <br />input from City staff on this subject. <br />NOW THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Charter Commission of the City of Ramsey, Anoka <br />County, as follows: <br />1) That it is in the best long range interest of the City of Ramsey that it be governed by <br />the Council-Manager plan~of government known as Optional Plan. B as established by <br />Minnesota Statutes 412.611 et. seq. <br />2) That the Charter Commission recommends to the City Council that it enact a Charter <br />amendment by ordinance in the form of the attached ordinance to amend-City Charter <br />Section 2.1 to provide that the City be governed by the Council-Manager' Plan of <br />government as defined by Minnesota Statutes, and that the effective date of said City <br />Charter amendment be January 1, 2011. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was seconded by Commission Member <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey Charter <br />Commission this the l 8`h day of January, 2007. <br />J5 <br />
