J--

CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION

Topic Report: Feasibility Studies for 157th Lane & Ramsey Blvd
Sewer & Water Extensions

By: Steven Jankowski, City Engineer

Background: The initiation of the Northwest sanitary sewer and water project has caused
interest among some existing residential properties in the area for connecting to City
municipal services. Two petitions were received requesting sanitary sewer and water
extensions. One for 157th Lane east of Ramsey Blvd and the second from nine property
owners along Ramsey Boulevard betweenl49th Avenue and 153rd Avenue. Feasibility studies
have been drafted for each of these potential projects and had been reviewed by the Public
Works Committee on July 18, 2006. While some direction was provided by the Committee it
was the recommendation ofthe Public Works Committee that these studies be discussed by
the Council at a work session. In particular the Council will want to determine the level to
which these projects should be supported from the City Sewer and Water Utility Truck funds.

Attachments: Draft feasibility studies for each of these projects will be distributed at the meeting.

Funding:

If the direction would be to proceed with this project, funding would come through specia:l
assessments and utility trunk funds.

Action Statement:

Direction is being sought from Council regarding the content of these feasibility studies prior to
their beingfinalized and subject to comment at a public hearing.

Reviewed by:

City Engineer
Interim City Administrator
Director of Public Works

CCWS:

01/16/07
