<br />PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF ~~NNESOTA <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, at <br />the Ramsey Fire Station Number 1,15050 Armstrong Boulevard, NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Chairperson David Elvig <br />CouncilmemberMary Jo Olson <br />Councilmember David J effrey (alternate) <br /> <br />Members Absent: <br /> <br />Councilmember Todd Cook <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />Public Works Director Brian Olson <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Public Works Supervisor Grant Reimer <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Civil Engineer II Leonard Linton <br />Utilities Supervisor John Nelson <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Chairperson E1vig called the regular meeting of the Public Works Committee to order at 5 :30 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated Mr. Hess is present on behalf of his neighborhood in the vicinity <br />of 142nd Avenue and Waco Street. Thls intersection was recently marked as a locati,on for the <br />installation of a streetlight as directed by the City Council through the Priority Streetlight Fund. <br />Typically streetlights installed with monies from this fund are a cobra head style of 1uminaire <br />light. Mr. Hess and his neighbors have indicated they would prefer that thetraditionaire style of <br />light be installed to be more in conformance with the nature of the neighborhood; they feel it <br />would be more appealing. The traditionaire style light provides slightly less light on the roadway <br />and a little more reflective light on lawns in the surrounding areas. The installation is scheduled <br />for tomorrow; staff will contact Connexus in the morning and direct them on whether to install <br />the luminaire style light or the traditionaire style light based on the direction of the Committee. <br /> <br />Mr. Hess stated he has been in this neighborhood for nine years. There are no lights in the <br />neighborhood at alL There are five of these traditionaire style lights on Xkimo Street and they <br />look nice. This light is planned for installation in his front yard; it has a 25 foot pole with a <br />cobra head; this is the type of light that is up and down the highways and the major intersections. <br />Installing this type of light in their neighborhood does not make sense to him or his neighbors; he <br />feels some type of input by the neighborhood should have an effect.
