5. 9. <br />CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: <br />03/10/2026 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Strive for high organizational morale and employee retention <br />Title <br />Authorization to Hire a Public Works Parks Maintenance Worker. <br />Purpose/Background: <br />The purpose of this case is to request authorization to hire a full-time Parks Maintenance Worker. As the City <br />Council will recall, during the 2026 budget discussions, adding a new Parks Maintenance Worker position was <br />discussed, approved and the funds were included in the 2026 budget for an April 1, 2026, start date. <br />Staff conducted a recruitment and interview process to fill the opening. Staff selected Mr. Brian Hoppman as the <br />top candidate. Mr. Hoppman underwent and passed the City's pre -employment testing process, including a <br />criminal background check, professional reference check, driving record check and employment verification, as <br />well as a physical exam and drug screen. The City extended a job offer to Mr. Hoppman which is contingent <br />upon City Council approval. Mr. Hoppman will be subject to a 6-month probationary period and all Personnel <br />Policies and/or employment contracts will apply. <br />The primary objective of this position is to provide general maintenance of city -owned parks and trail <br />systems. Responsibilities include all aspects of maintaining and repairing parks, park equipment and related <br />facilities.
