Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #26-075 <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE APPLICATION FOR MN DNR GRANT <br />FUNDING FOR 2026-27 PLAYGROUND IMPROVEMENTS AT RIVERDALE PARK <br />WHEREAS, Ramsey City Council and the Park & Recreation Commission recognizes the <br />importance of Parks, Trails, Open Space and Recreation to the quality of life for Ramsey residents; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, Neighborhood Parks and their playgrounds are essential areas for play and <br />creative and cognitive expression, as well as the positive physical development of children; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's established Playground Replacement Policy calls for annual or <br />reoccurring playground replacement and renovations as funding allows; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Strategic Plan directs the organization to "Identify and <br />implement operational efficiencies, cost savings or additional funding sources" and that <br />Action 2.4: [is to] "Apply for grant funds in conjunction with establishing funding sources; and <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br />1) That, up to one hundred and twenty-five thousand ($125,000), will be allocated from the <br />Lawful Gambling Improvement Fund, for the purchase and installation of play equipment, <br />poured -in -place resilient surfacing and related improvements, to match $125,000 in <br />Minnesota Outdoor Recreation Grant Program funding if awarded. <br />2) That, the aforementioned grant application is due March 31 st 2026 and this Resolution <br />authorizes staff to seek these funds, with the specifics of the playground project to be <br />recommended by the Park & Recreation Commission to City Council later in 2026. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City <br />Council this the 10th day of March, 2026. <br />Mayor <br />
