2. 3. <br />CC Work Session <br />Meeting Date: 04/14/2026 <br />Primary Strategic Plan Initiative: Not Applicable <br />Information <br />Title: <br />Required Audio Recordings of Public Meetings <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Councilmember Buscher and Stewart requested this discussion. <br />Following recent interviews that were conducted as part of a public meeting due to a quorum of the City Council <br />being present, questions were raised about whether these meetings need to be recorded. Ramsey does not have a <br />policy on this topic. However, practice has been to record all public meetings and provide online access to such <br />meetings via interactive technology. Furthermore, State Statute does not require public meetings be recorded, but <br />it does regulate the use of interactive technology. <br />Should the City Council desire to adjust our practice on when public meetings are audio recorded and have <br />interactive technology attendance options, a policy establishing those guidelines should be adopted. <br />Recommendation: <br />N/A <br />Outcome/Action: <br />If applicable, provide staff direction on what meetings are or are not audio recorded or have interactive <br />technology access.
