<br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br /> <br />3 <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />City of rfr: <br />RAMSEY <br /> <br />Topic Report: Executive Search Firm Selection <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />At the February 6, 2007 Work Session, the City Council interviewed four executive search firms to <br />assist with the recruitment and selection of a new city administrator. The four firms interviewed <br />were: Personnel Decisions International; Sathe Executive Search; the Waters Consulting Group; <br />and the Mercer Group. <br /> <br />After a lengthy discussion, the City Council decided by consensus to further explore hiring the <br />Waters Consulting Group to assist with the city administrator search. Council members were asked <br />to send all questions, concerns or proposed contract amendments to staff by Friday, February 9, <br />2007 which would enable staff to provide the City Council with the firm's responses at the <br />, February 13,2007 work session <br /> <br />Depending upon the City Council's satisfaction with the finn's responses, the City Council has <br />indicated that it may, at the February 13, 2007 CitY Council meeting, authorize staff to execute a <br />contract with the Waters Consulting Group. <br /> <br />FundingSources <br /> <br />The Waters Group indicated in its proposal that executive search services would cost the City <br />$18,500, plus a maximum of $1 0,000 for expenses. <br /> <br />The first $20,000 of the search will be paid for from the Miscellaneous Professional Services <br />fund in the Administrative Services budget and the remainder will need to be paid using an <br />alternate funding source, such as the Council Contingency Fund. <br /> <br />Recommendation <br /> <br />Pending the outcome of the work session discussion, staff recommends that the City Council make <br />a motion to forward the Waters Group proposal, as well as any proposed amendments, to the <br />February 13, 2007 City Council meeting for the purpose of authorizing staff to execute a contract <br />for executive search services with the :firm. <br />
